Catalina itself is very buggy. Not just the 2012's but apparently even the 2015's/2014's feel sluggish & slow. if you must update to Catalina, wait for atleast another 3 or 4 months untils a stable, bug free build comes out. If not, i would say skip Catalina all together. either that. OR do a fresh install of Catalina.

Not only that, but I am lucky if my laptop will even stay connected to my router or if I can get it to reconnect. I just upgraded to the new model from the previous 17" model and i never had this issue.
